Earth Day 2024 events across Central Arkansas

Earth Day is right around the corner, here are some celebrations in Central Arkansas where you can do your part to help make our planet a better place.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — We're less than one week away from Earth Day!

Earth Day takes place annually on April 22 as a day to support environmental protection through cleanup acts, hikes, and more— and what better place to celebrate than the Natural State!

If you're looking for a place where you can participate in Earth Day celebrations then check out our list below: 

Little Rock

  • Earth Day Celebration & Coleman Creek Cleanup
    • When: Thursday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Where: In front of the Donaghey Student Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock
    • What: Browse local vendors, grab some plants, watch recycling demos, gain sustainability education, and more! T-shirts, grabbers, and trash bags will be available for those participating in the cleanup.
  • Trail Work Party at Allsopp Park 
    • When: Saturday, April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    • Where: Allsopp Park (South) at 3700 Cedar Hill Rd.
    • What: Work on the trails and help remove invasive species at Allsopp Park! Lunch for volunteers will be catered by Whole Hog Cafe North Little Rock and adult beverages from Lost 40 Brewing.
  • Earth Day Plant Swap
    • When: Monday, April 22 from 12 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    • Where: 6221 Col Glenn Rd. Suite #5
    • What: Join in for a community plant swap! Get to know fellow plant enthusiasts, find a new plant baby, enjoy fun activities, and get a portrait by Happy Aura Photography.
  • Earth Day Planting Event
    • When: Monday, April 22 at 5 p.m.
    • Where: Napa Valley Apartment Homes at 501 Napa Valley Dr.
    • What: Join the office staff for a seed-planting session, cultivating a greener tomorrow. 
  • Earth Day Banquet
    • When: Monday, April 22 at 6 p.m.
    • Where: Trinity Episcopal Church at 310 West 17th St.
    • What: Join the church for a ritual meal celebrating Creation. Guests are told to bring an offering - a special stone, a flower, a beautiful leaf, a poem, or anything meaningful to them. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
  • Earth Day Collage Making
    • When: Tuesday, April 23 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Where: Fletcher Library at 823 North Buchanan St.
    • What: Discuss environmentalism and what our planet means to you while creating a one-of-a-kind collage.
  • Trail Work Party for Earth Day
    • When: Saturday, April 20 at 8:30 a.m.
    • Where: Allsopp Park at 3700 Cedar Hill Rd
    • What: Work on trails and remove invasive species.
      In partnership with the City of Little Rock and the LR Parks and Recreation.

North Little Rock

  • Earth Day Market 
    • When: Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Where: St. Joseph Farmstand at 6800 Camp Robinson Rd
    • What: Celebrate Earth Day with St Joseph's Earth Day Market event! There will be a market and a host of special vendors, activities, food trucks, and live music.
  • Seed Paper Making
    • When: Monday, April 22 at 5:00 p.m.
    • Where: NLR Public Library System at 2801 Orange Street
    • What: Learn a new way to recycle old scraps into handmade paper that will bloom into beautiful wildflowers.

Benton

  • Master Gardener Plant Sale
    • When: Saturday, April 20 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    • Where: Saline County Fairgrounds at 406 Fairfield Rd
    • What: Shop for new plants to help beautify your gardens now that spring is in full swing.
  • Saline County Litter Clean-Up
    • When: Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
    • Where: Recycle Saline at 520 Edison Avenue
    • What: Join Saline County in a county-wide litter clean-up event.

Conway

  • Clean the park for Earth Day
    • When: Saturday, April 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
    • Where: Conway Public Library's park at 1900 Tyler St
    • What: Do a good deed by joining the community to help clean up the park and prepare for the upcoming season.

Hot Springs

  • Earth Day Story & Park Clean-Up
    • When: Monday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m.
    • Where: Family Park at 215 Family Park Rd
    • What: Enjoy story time and a clean-up safety lesson along with cleaning up the park.
  • Earth Day Celebration
    • When: Friday, April 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Where: National Park College at 101 College Drive
    • What: Enjoy the day with food, games, and information tables where you can work on keeping our planet healthy.
