ARKANSAS, USA — Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) applications will reopen on Jan. 8. This program helps low-income families apply for help in covering the costs of their energy bills.
According to Arkansas Energy & Environment, LIHEAP is managed by 15 community-based organizations in the state, serving all 75 counties.
What is required?
- Completed application
- Electric or gas bill
- Photo ID
- Social Security cards and dates of birth of all household members
- Proof of income for the previous month for all household members such as:
- paycheck stubs
- printout from employer
- social security
- unemployment
- child support
- VA
- housing allowance
- unemployment benefits
- If you have not had a job within the last two months, a statement from your employer of your last day of employment is required.
- If you have no income, proof "of how the household's monthly expenses are being met" is required along with the following forms:
- Zero income form
- Collateral statement
- Contribution statement
- Odd job income form
