Little Rock Zoo welcomes Merlin the Binturong

The Little Rock Zoo is excited to welcome its newest temporary resident, Merlin the Binturong, who will call the zoo home for the next year.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Little Rock Zoo is excited to welcome its newest temporary resident, Merlin the Binturong

Binturongs, or bearcats, are part of the Viverridae family of small to medium-sized, feliform mammals native to South and Southeast Asia.

Merlin will be the first Binturong the Little Rock Zoo has cared for in over 10 years. He will be spending the next year in the Small Carnivore Area next to the zoo's servals.

Merlin arrived on April 3 from the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper, Utah, which needed a temporary home for him while they work on their current Binturong habitat.

Be sure to swing by to say hello to Merlin and show him some love while he stays at the Little Rock Zoo!
