Rainwater, Holt & Sexton teams with MADD to offer free cab rides on New Year's Eve

The Little Rock law firm represents injury cases and sees the aftermath of drunk driving firsthand.

A Little Rock injury law firm is teaming with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to offer free cab rides to the public on New Year's Eve.

Rainwater, Holt & Sexton Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Little Rock Yellow Cab will provide the cab rides to anyone in Little Rock during the holiday.

The aim of the program is to reduce the number of drunk driving-related accidents during this time of year.

“Every year during the holidays, we get numerous calls from people who were injured by drunk drivers, and this year we decided to do something about it,” said Bob Sexton, partner of Rainwater, Holt & Sexton.

Here are the guidelines to get the free rides:

  • Rides will be paid for between 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 3 a.m. on New Year’s morning 2019.
  • Pickup locations must be within the city of Little Rock.
  • The destination must be within 20 miles.
  • It must be a ride home.

For pickup, call Yellow Cab at 501-222-2222 and tell the operator Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is paying.

Tips to prevent drunk driving:

  • If you will be drinking, plan on not driving. Plan your safe ride home before you start the party. Designate a sober driver ahead of time.
  • If you drink, do not drive for any reason. Call a taxi, phone a sober friend or family member, use public transportation, etc. Download NHTSA’s SaferRide app from Google Play or the iTunes Store which helps you identify your location and call a taxi or friend to pick you up.
  • If someone you know has been drinking, do not let that person get behind the wheel. Take their keys and help them arrange a sober ride home.
  • If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact local law enforcement. Your actions could help save someone’s life.
