June 9, 1995 - Morgan Chauntel Nick, 6, was abducted from a little league ball game in Alma, Arkansas by an unidentified man. She was attending the game with her mother and had joined some friends to catch lightning bugs. Morgan was last seen standing near her mother’s car where she had stopped to empty sand from her shoes.
1996- Morgan Nick Foundation launched. After Morgan’s kidnapping, it became apparent there was a need for an organization which could provide immediate assistance to the families of missing children. Colleen Nick, Morgan’s mother, realized the need and determined to fight for Morgan and for the hundreds of children that go missing each year and launched the foundation.
Morgan Nick Amber Alert - The Arkansas State Police serves as the coordinating law enforcement agency in Arkansas to alert the public of missing or abducted children. Known as the Morgan Nick Amber Alert System, the Arkansas State Police was one of the first law enforcement agencies in the country to model a statewide notification system based on the local Amber Alerts used in many large U.S. cities.
February 2012- FBI launches new Child ID App. It’s the first mobile application created by the FBI provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about your children so that it’s literally right at hand if you need it. You can show the pictures and provide physical identifiers such as height and weight to security or police officers on the spot.
June 2015- New age-progressed picture of Morgan is released. Billboards were put up across the state, in Northwest Arkansas, Fort Smith, Clarksville, and Little Rock.
December 18, 2017- FBI and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation start searching a property in Spiro, Oklahoma. This is the same location police searched in 2010 in connection to the disappearance of Morgan Nick. In 2010, authorities searched the property for any DNA evidence and spoke with a man living on the property at the time. No evidence was found at that time. Investigators said that there is a well on the property that is the center of the investigation.
December 19, 2017- Investigators have concluded their search of the property in Spiro, Oklahoma related to the Morgan Nick case, according to sister station KFSM. LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seale said no evidence was found on the property that was related to the Morgan Nick case. The digging was a slow process that took place over 10 hours before being called off at 2:30 p.m.
