Missouri man killed in officer-involved shooting at Buffalo National River

The man who died after an officer-involved shooting at the Buffalo National River is identified.

HARRISON, Ark. (KTHV) -- The man who died after an officer-involved shooting at the Buffalo National River is identified.

The incident happened in the early morning hours of August 20 in the Lower Buffalo Ranger District of the national river.

Rangers were on foot patrol when they encountered 44-year-old Jonathan Bolger, of Branson, Missouri, with a handgun.

Bolger refused multiple commands to drop the weapon, that's when the park rangers fired at him. He died from his injuries. No officers were hurt.

The investigation is being led by the National Park Service/Investigative Services Branch and Office of Professional Responsibility and assisted by the Searcy County Sheriff's Office and Arkansas State Police.

No further information will be released at this time as the incident remains under investigation.
