Revenue offices can now issue new licenses after temporary nationwide outage

Scott Hardin said the issue was due to the national database that revenue offices use to issue new plates and licenses and was not specific to Arkansas.

ARKANSAS, USA — Revenue offices across the country were experiencing outages around 11 a.m. on March 21, according to Scott Hardin with the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA). 

The issue has now been resolved as of 11:45 a.m.

Hardin said the issue was due to the national database that revenue offices to issue new plates and licenses and is not specific to Arkansas. The revenue offices were still able to renew tags and licenses, but they were unable to issue new ones. 

The database is managed by the American Association of Motor Vehicles Administrators (AAMVA). Hardin did not provide the cause of the outage or how long it lasted.
