North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick seeking reelection

North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick announced Thursday that he is running for reelection. His current term expires in December 2024.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick announced Thursday that he will seek another term as mayor.

Hartwick was elected Mayor of North Little Rock for the second time in December 2020 and began his four-year term in January 2021.

His current term expires in December 2024.

Hartwick was born and raised in North Little Rock and is a North Little Rock High School graduate. He attended the University of Central Arkansas, served in the United States Air Force and is a Veteran of Foreign wars.

In 1984, he was elected Mayor of North Little Rock, serving until 1989. In 2001, he became president and CEO of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, where he served for 15 years and helped it grow into the third-largest chamber in Arkansas.

Additionally, he worked closely with the city on several projects, including the relocation of the Arkansas Travelers to North Little Rock with the development of Dickey-Stephens Park. He initiated the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame.

In January 2016, Hartwick was appointed Director of the North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department by then-Mayor Joe A. Smith. He added new rental facilities, upgraded indoor and outdoor public recreation facilities and created the all-inclusive One Heart Playground.

Since being elected Mayor of North Little Rock in December 2020, Hartwick has continued to encourage economic growth, strengthen and unite communities, ensure public safety and enhance recreational opportunities for all ages.

During his first year in office, Hartick played a role in opening the new North Little Rock Justice Center, Fire Station No. 6 in Levy, Laman Plaza All-Inclusive Playground and the Pump Track at Big Rock Quarry Bike Park.

In 2022, Hartwick announced a City Municipal Identification Program, broke ground at Burns Park for a new fire station and announced a new health clinic in Rose City.
