One dead after fatal shooting in North Little Rock, suspect in custody

The North Little Rock Police Department has arrested one man in the homicide investigation near Locust Street.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The North Little Rock Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 1700 block of Locust Street at the Homes at Pine Crossing.

Officers said they found a man with "at least one gunshot wound" when they arrived on scene around 8:33 p.m. on Thursday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as 29-year-old Deonte Lambert of North Little Rock.

After an investigation, authorities identified and arrested 28-year-old Roderick Fondren as a suspect in the case.

Police said Fondren was taken into custody on unrelated charges Wednesday. After an interview, he was charged with first-degree murder and one count of possession of firearms by certain persons.
