People discuss concerns on possible relocation of Parkview High School

This meeting came after there were rumors that Parkview High School would be closed because of the construction at West Little Rock High School.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — On Monday night, people got the chance to voice their concerns about the relocation of Parkview High School.

We saw the first public meeting outside the Little Rock School District boardroom.

The meeting came after there were rumors that Parkview High School would be closed because of the construction at West Little Rock High School.

"Today, was really to raise awareness and so the public will then be ready to engage on Thursday and up until the 14th when the vote will come," said Vicki Hatter, LRSD Board Director.

With not enough students to fill all of their buildings, LRSD has been looking at other options. So, far they have received more than 90 proposals.

Because of the construction of the West Little Rock High School, one proposal suggested that Parkview be moved to that building and renamed.

Superintendent Jermall Wright was at the meeting and he said there was not a lot of positive feedback on this proposal.

"And from what I'm hearing there's not a lot of support and there's not a lot of support today. So, that's not going to go forward," said Wright.

He added they will have more discussion on this at this week's board workshop. They could have a final answer as soon as next week's board agenda meeting.

LRSD's West High School construction could be put on hold after a recent bid for construction was double what they anticipated.

The board is expected to make a decision on that next week as well.
