Pine Bluff police arrest man for capital murder of 21-year-old

The Pine Bluff Police Department says the man turned himself in around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Update: 24-year-old Raheem Morehead was arrested in connection with the murder of Hawkins.

Authorities said Morehead turned himself in around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Morehead was booked at the W.C. Dub Brassell Detention Center for capital murder.

Police in Pine Bluff are investigating a shooting that happened overnight on Wednesday. 

According to authorities, the incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Nov. 1 as police were sent to E. 26th Avenue in response to a reported shooting. 

When officers arrived on the scene, they found 21-year-old Cedric Hawkins, who had been shot and was lying in the apartment complex's parking lot. 

Authorities later pronounced Hawkins dead at the scene. 

This is an active investigation and there's currently no information on any suspects at this time.
