Pine Bluff police investigate homicide, suspect in custody

The Pine Bluff Police Department says a woman filed a report after her grandson told her he shot someone in the 2000 block of West Saracen Street.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 2100 block of West Saracen Street after a woman said her 18-year-old grandson "shot someone" Saturday.

The woman said the grandson told her about the incident, so she reported it to the police.

Pine Bluff Police Sgt. Jasmine Womack took the report and immediately placed the teen, Kyree Kendrick, in handcuffs and notified detectives.

Officers went to the location around 4:11 p.m. and found 22-year-old Kerry Leneal Hadley Jr. lying on a bedroom floor inside the residence with a gunshot wound.

According to authorities, Hadley was pronounced dead at the scene.

After further investigation, Kendrick was arrested and transported to the W.C. Dub Brassell Detention Center and charged with first-degree murder.
