Officials seeking information on human remains found in January

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office is seeking help from the public to try and identify a male individual after skeletal remains were discovered last month.

CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ark. — On January 8, deputies with the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office confirmed the discovery of human remains at the Jim Kress Wildlife management area near Warren Mountain Road in Wilburn.

According to previous reports, a woman was exploring the area with her dog when she stumbled upon a partial human skeleton. The individual informed officials that before finding the skeleton, her dog had located a gun a short distance away from the remains.

It is unknown at this time whether there is any connection between the gun and the remains at this time.

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office is seeking help from the public to try and identify the deceased individual.

The skeleton was sent to the state crime lab for DNA and other testing, which revealed that the missing male had spinal surgery, or a spinal fusion plate in the neck.

If you know of anyone who may fit this description, you are urged to contact Detective Angelo Aldrighetti at (501) 362-8143 as soon as possible.
