Oklahoma baseball commit Ridge Southerland wants to take Bryant the distance

Bryant is undefeated in Arkansas this season, and pitcher Ridge Southerland says the team plans to keep it that way.

BRYANT, Ark. — Bryant is undefeated against schools in Arkansas this year and sit at the top of the 6A Central conference.

The successful season so far has Hornets junior pitcher Ridge Southerland more confident than ever.

"We're winning, so we're number one in the conference right now," Southerland said. "We're going to keep it going. These guys are my brothers; I wouldn't want to do it with anybody else. We like to go hunt, fish and hang out. We like to do everything together."

Bryant baseball head coach Garrett Bock said the wins are a reward for all the practice the team puts in.

"We keep trying to instill in these guys how important practice is and instilling good habits," Bock said. "Hopefully, it's starting to turn on the field a little bit."

Southerland, an Oklahoma commit, is excited to finish out the season and play in the SEC after graduation, as the Sooners will make their conference transition.

"Hopefully I get to play Arkansas and everybody else from the SEC," Southerland said. "I'm excited about that."

Bock credited Southerland's success to his hard work.

"It's comforting," Bock said. "[Southerland] works extremely hard. He earns everything he's got. "He's a constant baseball guy. He thinks about baseball, and he thinks about how to get better."

The Hornets are eyeing their first baseball state title since 2016, and they hope the season ends with them holding the trophy.

"We are going to keep it going and win state," Southerland said. "Win conference, win everything."
