Do Girl Scout Cookies sales help fund Planned Parenthood?

We checked the girl scouts website and the organization says the money stays local to fund supplies, activities and group travel.

Some say it's the most wonderful time of year, simply because grade-school girls are delivering Girl Scout Cookies right now!

From Thin Mints to Samoas and Tagalongs -- they are a true treat.

Girl Scouts sell them to raise money for next-generation female entrepreneurs who are getting a taste of what it takes to be successful -- teamwork, planning and a positive outlook.

But where does the money go? Some people consider five dollars a box pretty steep. It adds up when you consider how many boxes are sold.

We checked the girl scouts website and the organization says the money stays local to fund supplies, activities and group travel.

But then this question came into our verify team from Rickey Harrison. After seeing debates on Facebook, he asked if Girl Scout Cookies fund Planned Parenthood.

Well, all kinds of people are talking about it on Facebook, but Girl Scouts USA officially answers the question itself right on its webpage

The site reads, "No Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a relationship or partnership with Planned Parenthood."

So we can verify that Girl Scout Cookies are not funding Planned Parenthood.
