Razorbacks basketball takes down No. 3 Purdue in charity exhibition game

The Razorbacks topped the Boilermakers 81-77 in overtime in front of a sold-out Bud Walton Arena.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. โ€” The Arkansas Razorbacks had a rare October sellout as the third ranked Purdue Boilermakers came to town in a charity exhibition game. All proceeds of the game went to Arkansas 2-1-1.

The Hogs got off to a slow start as Purdue jumped out to a early lead but with the crowds support, they were able to get going mid way through the first half. Behind a great half by Louisville transfer El Ellis, the Hogs lead 31-26 going into the break.

Arkansas got off to a fast second half and lead by 7 with 5:18 to go. But a 7-0 run by Purdue tied the game with just over 3 minutes to go. The next few minuets were back and forth and neither team could come out on top to end regulation and it went into OT tied at 69.

The first couple minutes of OT were slow but Ellis got the Razorbacks the lead with an and one, and Arkansas never gave the lead back up as they took it 81-77.

Tramon Mark and Trevon Brazile lead the Hogs in scoring with 15 a piece, and Zach Edey and Fletcher Loyer matched them for the Boilermakers also putting up 15.

The Razorbacks now get ready for the regular season to start on Monday, November 6th against Alcorn State at Bud Walton Arena.
