HOOVER, Ala. (THV11) - The Razorbacks exploded for 13 runs as Arkansas defeated South Carolina 13-8 to open SEC tournament play.
Dominic Fletcher powered the Arkansas offense past the Gamecocks going 2-3 with 5 RBI including a 3-run home run in the 1st to give the Razorbacks a 3-0 lead to open the game. Casey Martin would help break things open in the 4th innings with a 2-run shot of his own. Arkansas led 10-1 before South Carolina battled back with a 5 run 6th inning to close the lead 10-6.
Martin once again gave the Hogs a boost with his second home run of the night to extend the lead 11-6. Martin 2-5 with 3 RBI.
Kacey Murphy got the start on the bump cruising through 5 innings before surrendering a grand slam. Murphy's final line 5.2 IP 6 R and 2 K.
Arkansas advances to play Florida Thursday night. 1st pitch is set for 8:00.
