Walmart in Rogers closes after storms create damage, outage

All eastbound and westbound lanes on Walnut Street between 24th Street and Dixieland Road.

ROGERS, Ark. — The Walmart Supercenter on Walnut Street in Rogers is currently closed after radar indicated a tornado touched down in the city, according to spokesperson Elizabeth DeLuca.

"We are assessing damage and working to restore power," she said.

According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), there are two sections of Walnut Street that are closed off due to debris in the roadway. All lanes are closed in both directions.

The first report is at the intersection of Walnut and 24th Street. Rogers dispatch reported the second closure on the corner of Dixieland Road and Walnut. The point between 24th Street and Dixieland Road runs in front of the Walmart that DeLuca said is currently closed.

The Rogers Police Department shared photos of the storm damage before and after clean-up efforts began.

Keith Foster with the Rogers Police Department reminds the public to not pass any barricades while responders work to clean up roadways.

"Don't pass barricades," Foster said. "We are still cleaning up so expect slow traffic or delays."

DeLuca also said they are assessing damages to Walmart's corporate offices.

"We are collaborating with local leaders to identify ways we can support the community during the recovery," she said.
