Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops helped stoked the flames of an age old question by saying Arkansas would be an "excellent" fit for the Big 12 Conference.

Back when former athletic director Frank Broyles moved the Hogs to the SEC, many have wondered what would have happened if they moved to the Big 12 instead?

In an interview with Sports Talk, Stoops said the Razorbacks would fair better in a 10-team conference.

"I just feel personally that they would be excellent in the Big 12," he said. "Geographically, where they're located-- can you imagine the series with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State every year? Also, Texas, TCU, all the teams there in the area."

When Broyles moved the team to the SEC, it effectively killed off the famous Arkansas-Texas rivalry. Since 1992, the teams have only met twice to play college football.

Stoops also said that renewing that rivalry would help Arkansas's recruiting efforts in the rival state.

"I think it would bring Texas recruiting, being that they would be down there competing in the Texas area, even in Oklahoma," Stoops said.

The former head coach said that Arkansas has an opportunity to "make a mark" in the Big 12.
