Man found dead in S. Brown Street home ruled homicide by LRPD

Little Rock police officers responded to a welfare check and found a dead man inside his home on S. Brown Street.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Little Rock police officer responded to a welfare check called in from a medical clinic to a home on S. Brown Street at around 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, where the responding officer found the front door open.

"The door being open was alarming to the officer," LRPD Spokesperson Officer Barnes said, and the officer requested for backup before entering.

Officers found the body of a man inside, who was later identified as 58-year-old John Floyd. What made the death suspicious was that officers found "elements inside they believed to be disturbed and not in place," Barnes said.

Little Rock police have ruled the death a homicide.

Floyd's body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to be performed.
