Arkansas man charged for 'fleeing' from police, having stolen gun

An Arkansas man was arrested and charged by the Garland County Sheriff's Office after he allegedly fled from police and was found with a stolen weapon.

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. — A Bonnerdale man has been arrested and charged by the Garland County Sheriff's Office after he allegedly fled from police and was found with a stolen weapon on Wednesday.

According to reports, just after midnight, Cpl. Holloway saw a speeding vehicle that was traveling east along Albert Pike. He was able to confirm via radar that the vehicle was allegedly driving at 72 miles per hour while in a 40-mile-per-hour zone.

The corporal attempted to stop the vehicle but was unsuccessful.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Mark Allen Hill of Bonnerdale kept driving and the chase headed towards Hot Springs. Later in the pursuit, Mr. Hill turned off his headlights in an attempt to lose the corporal who was chasing after him.

While in the pursuit the suspect vehicle almost lost control a few times but it eventually stopped on the side of the bypass and the coporal was able to safely detain him.

During an investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Hill had a Sig Sauer 9mm gun which the Hot Springs Police Department confirmed to have been reported as stolen. They also discovered two more AR-15-style rifles in his vehicle along with several packages of suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and about $600 in cash.

Hill was taken into custody and charged with fleeing by vehicle exceeding posted speed limit, possession of schedule VI with purpose to deliver 14g<4oz, and simultaneous possession of drug and firearms.

He was also given a ticket for driving on a suspended license, speeding 15mph<, and careless and prohibited driving.
