Over 20K Arkansans without power due to severe weather

More than 20,000 Arkansans are currently without power as severe weather moves through the Natural State.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Update: As of 1 p.m. on Saturday, the number of power outages is now at 7,007 with most of those outages in Van Buren and Craighead counties.

Over 20,000 people are without power as severe weather moved through Arkansas on Friday.

The state is currently seeing heavy rain with a handful of counties under a severe thunderstorm warning. The storms impacted several areas like Miller, Clark and Pike counties, leaving thousands powerless.

The outages are mainly impacting southwest and central Arkansas. Of the 20,946 people without power, 5,624 are in Pulaski County, 3,369 outages are in Lonoke County and 2.311 are in Miller County. Clark County has reported 1,291 power outages.
