Craig O'Neill recognized by legislators for decades-long radio and television career

The Arkansas Senate announced that they have passed a resolution recognizing Craig O'Neill for his many years working in radio and television broadcasting.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Senate announced that they have passed a resolution recognizing Craig O'Neill for his many years working in radio and television broadcasting.

O'Neill first began his radio career in Jonesboro where he worked at KTBM before working in broadcasting and advertising sales at KARN in Little Rock in 1972.

He worked in radio at several other stations for more than two decades before joining the THV11 team as Sports Director in January 2000. About eight years later, he transferred to evening news anchor.

His distinguished television career includes a regional EMMY Award and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. In 2023, he was inducted into the NATAS Mid-America Gold Circle for his fifty-plus years in broadcasting.

Craig O'Neill has even been on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, interviewed music icon Dolly Parton, led election coverage with his extensive knowledge of Arkansas politics, and has broadcasted encouragement from his kitchen table during the pandemic.

He has also emceed over 9,000 charity events and helped raise over $40 million for communities in Arkansas.

After more than five decades of working in radio and television, his last broadcast on THV11 was at 10:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023.

Though O'Neill has retired from THV11, his impact will live on, as will his passion project: reading to Arkansas children and helping them to ignite a promise to be lifetime readers.
