LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A documentary exploring maternal health in Arkansas will air on THV11+ and on thv11.com throughout the entire month of March.

The film was produced by Every Mother Counts, a nonprofit organization aimed at the safety surrounding pregnancy and childbirth.

The organization shared the following information regarding the film:

Giving Birth in America: Arkansas" is the seventh chapter in Every Mother Counts’ Giving Birth in America film series.

The film spotlights Arkansas, the state with the highest maternal mortality rate across the United States, with a focus on the reality of the postpartum experience. More than half of all maternal deaths take place during the postpartum period, yet this stage of pregnancy is often overlooked.

The film follows three mothers as they grapple with mental health concerns, lack of paid leave, and other challenges in the days, weeks, and months following birth,  all while vividly painting a picture of the gaps in the current landscape of postpartum care.

The film highlights the essential role of community-based support, especially within historically marginalized communities.”

Giving Birth in America: Arkansas” will be available to watch on THV11+, the station’s streaming app for Roku, FireTV, and AppleTV as well as on thv11.com and its mobile apps for Android and iPhone.
