Aloy perfect at the plate as No. 2 Arkansas run-rules UAPB in North Little Rock

Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy collected four hits and five RBI to help the Razorbacks over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Shortstop Wehiwa Aloy drove in five runs, and pitcher Cooper Dossett tossed three shutout innings to power No. 2 Arkansas to an 11-1 run-rule victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock Tuesday night.

Aloy, batting a .294, finished a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate and helped the Razorbacks get on the board with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first inning.

Pitcher Ben Bybee got the start for the Hogs and lasted two innings, allowing one run on three hits while collecting four strikeouts and zero walks.

UAPB got to Bybee in the top of the second inning when first baseman JaKobi Jackson drove a pitch into right field for an RBI double to tie the game at 1-1.

That would be the Golden Lions' only run of the game, as Arkansas pitchers Christian Foutch, Parker Coil and Dossett would combine to limit UAPB to just four hits in the final five innings.

Dossett (3-0) received the win for the Razorbacks, fanning four batters and allowing two hits across three innings of work.

The Razorbacks collected nine hits and regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Aloy knocked a ball from pitcher Calvin McClendon into right-center field for a two-RBI double, giving Arkansas a 3-1 lead.

Once the Hogs settled in, they got to work.

Arkansas added seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to bust the game open. Second baseman Peyton Stovall drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, while Aloy recorded a two-RBI single.

A few batters later, right fielder Kendall Diggs singled to right field, scoring first baseman Ben McLaughlin. Third baseman Nolan Souza followed with a two-RBI double to right-center field to give the Razorbacks a 10-1 lead.

Stovall added a run for Arkansas in the bottom of the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly to end the game.

The Razorbacks return to action on Friday with a three-game series against. Coverage from Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville begins at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network.
