Little Rock homicides of 2020

This is our effort to keep residents of Little Rock informed on the number of homicides in the city during the year.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — In 2019, the Little Rock Police Department reported 41 homicides in the city, which was one more homicide than 2018.

While the police force has increased in the past couple years, Little Rock continues to see a higher per-capita homicide rate than cities with similar populations.

This is our effort to keep Little Rock residents informed on the number of homicides in the city during 2020.

Currently, police say there are 30 homicides in the city.

August 22: 54-year-old Freddie Dorn, Jr.

Little Rock police found Dorn's body lying in the middle of Peyton Street after receiving a call about an assault with a weapon.

August 2: 27-year-old Vence Lee, Jr.

Lee died on August 2 after a July 21 shooting on Colonel Glenn.

June 25: 31-year-old Latoya Ford

Little Rock police responded to Stillman Drive (Valley Estates) in reference to a shooting. Two were injured. Ford later died from her gunshot wounds.

June 20: 67-year-old Gayle Reynolds

Married couple Gayle and Jeffrey Reynolds were found dead in their home around 1 p.m. due to gunshot wounds. Little Rock police believe Jeffrey killed Gayle and then killed himself.

June 20: 39-year-old Patrick Smith

LRPD responded to a shots-fired call at Club 428 around 12:30 a.m. where they found Smith suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from the injuries.

June 17: Unidentified victim

Officers found a dead person near Baptist Hospital around 9 p.m. No other information has been released at this time.

June 16: 21-year-old Daishaun Allen

LRPD said Allen was shot and killed two weeks after being shot in a different incident.

June 5: 18-year-old Tyler Terrell

The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Tyler Terrell, was transported to a nearby hospital where he died due to his injuries.

June 3: 23-year-old Keyshawn Simpson

Police say Simpson died after being shot in the back of the head and back.

May 30: 58-year-old Bobbie Hambrick

Hambrick was found dead at a home near MLK Drive. Police originally ruled it as an overdose, but later declared it a homicide.

May 21: 22-year-old Jeremy Parks

Police say Parks died at a nearby hospital. No suspect has been named at this time.

May 7: 37-year-old Nicholas D. Winter

Winter was shot and killed around 10 p.m. on the 2300 block of 145th Street in Little Rock, according to officials. 

Joseph Villarreal is wanted for first-degree murder in the killing of Winter. He is currently wanted by police and considered armed and dangerous.

May 9: 39-year-old Chesrick Martin

Police were dispatched to a stolen vehicle call, and on the way to Ludwig Street, shots were fired. When they arrived, they found Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police have interviewed witnesses, but have not yet identified a suspect. This is an on-going investigation.

May 1: 11-year-old Jordan Roberts

Police say that 32-year-old Brent Martin fatally shot Jordan. Martin then confronted officers and that's when police shot and killed him.

April 29: 45-year-old Keith Cobbins

According to police, an employee at Family Dollar on MLK Drive shot 45-year-old Keith Cubbins, who later died at the hospital.

The employee was interviewed by police and released from custody pending a further investigation.

April 21: Two unidentified males

Two men were found dead inside of a car in the area of Arch and Broadway streets.

April 19: 28-year-old Jarvis Washington // 39-year-old Porcha Gibson

When police arrived, Washington was able to inform them he was shot but later died due to his injuries.

Gibson was found inside an apartment who died from an apparent gunshot wound.

April 18: 33-year-old Kiero Turner

Officers arrived in the area of 29th and S. Monroe Street and found Kiero's body inside of her car. Her husband, Ricky Turner, was located a few streets away with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He is still in critical condition.

This case is still under investigation.

April 14: 53-year-old Karl Lewis

After officers were called to the scene after a disturbance, police found Lewis's burned body. James Johnson has been identified as a suspect in the homicide, but have not located Johnson.

April 3: 36-year-old Howard Tate

Officers located Tate lying on the ground near a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds, showing no signs of life.

This case is still unsolved.

March 27: 31-year-old Jeremy Bonds

Bonds was killed by an individual who has since come forward claiming the incident took place in self-defense.

The case has been sent to the Pulaski County prosecuting attorney's office for review.

March 10: 58-year-old John Floyd

Police say Floyd was found unresponsive after he missed several doctor appointments.

March 7: 57-year-old Suzanne McCarty

Little Rock police say 65-year-old Craig Goodman shot McCarty as she ran from her home on Carter Lane, he then committed death by suicide.

January 25: 21-year-old I’Quira Tate // 24-year-old Brittany Tate

A shooting occurred at 3101 Ringo Street in Little Rock around 1:38 a.m. Saturday morning, killing the victims and injuring a 2-year-old boy.

This case is still unsolved.

January 22: 21-year-old John Word

The incident took place in the parking lot of O'Reilly Auto Parts on Asher Ave after an alleged theft attempt by Word. The suspect claims he shot and killed Word in self-defense. 

The case is still being investigated.

January 5: 35-year-old Varn Brown Jr.

Police responded to an apartment complex on Capitol Hill Boulevard to find 35-year-old Varn Brown Jr. lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
